Biography:
Mark Suomala is an experienced birder and naturalist who has
organized and led many nature tours throughout the U.S. and abroad.
He has worked as field biologist for
the Audubon Society of New Hampshire, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife
Service, and the U.S.D.A. Forest Service, and has volunteered extensively as a
bird-banding assistant on the Isles of Shoals.
He has taught numerous :birding-by-ear: workshops,
including weeklong workshops for the American Birding Association for
5-years in a row.
He has a graduate degree in
Environmental Studies from Antioch University.

Mark Suomala has been a
guest speaker on New Hampshire Public Radio's program "Word of
Mouth".
Mark has also been a guest
speaker, together with his wife Becky Suomala, on New Hampshire Public Radio's

ALULA Magazine
This birding magazine focused on birding as a
hobby and contained articles about identification, bird finding, books, and
birding equipment. It also had fabulous photographs of birds. Mark assisted with the
editing of the English language edition. Unfortunately, Alula is no longer being
published.
